THE HISTORY
Blanchard Grinding, also called Rotary Surface Grinding, dates back to 1909 when Henry Spencer developed the process for the Blanchard Machine Company in Cambridge, MA.  The basic design of these revolutionary machines has changed little since those days and, indeed, some machines from the early decades of the last century are still in use today.

THE PROCESS
The Blanchard Grinding process removes stock from one side of a variety of materials quickly and efficiently - using a vertical grinding spindle located over a rotating cylindrical chuck plate - and delivers a dimensional tolerance and flatness of ±.001” with surface finishes to 32 Ra.
